FAQ'S

HOW MANY FITTINGS ARE NEEDED FOR MY WEDDING DRESS ALTERATIONS?

Brides should plan for a first fitting and then two additional fittings for a total of three appointments. The seamstress will often have your wedding dress  done by the second appointment.  However, at times a third appointment is needed for a perfect fit.

Your first fitting will be about 1 hour.  Subsequent fittings 30-45 minutes.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A SEAMSTRESS?

You can make your appointment online from our appointment scheduler or you can call 704-892-6450

HOW MUCH DO ALTERATIONS COST?

Cost of alterations depends on what is being done to the garment.  The more you have done to a wedding dress, the more your alterations will cost.  However, Anjolique offers a very popular Wedding Dress Alterations Package which covers all standard alterations at one price.

WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE FOR ALTERATIONS

Payment is due after you meet for your first fitting.  Our seamstresses will work on your gown until you are satisfied with the fit. You are not charged for any adjustments to work being done unless you have taken your gown home and bring it back for a courtesy adjustment.

WHAT IS THE TAILORING PACKAGE AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

The alteration package is basically a cap on the cost of standard alterations.   This covers all of the following:

Hem (removing or re-attaching lace included in this)

Side seams ( per pair depending on beaded or non-beaded)

Hip Seams (same as above)

Bust cups

Darts (front, back, princess seams, includes removing and re-attaching lace $55 and up)

Booty contouring (Anjolique Signature Booty Pop)

adjustment of straps

adjustment of sleeves

Bustle up to 3 points

Removing crinoline

shortening of waist

For brides who want a glove-like fit, the Wedding Dress Alteration  package is a very economical option.  It is not, however, unlimited alterations.  Once the fit is achieved and the dress leaves the premises,  there is a modest courtesy fee for re-adjustments.  For example after bridal portraits or if the client loses or gains weight requiring the garment to be re-adjusted

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE TAILORING PACKAGE?

Custom work is not included in the tailoring package and is priced out separately as custom changes.  This includes the following:

Creating and adding sleeves

Changing the neckline

Making modesty modifications

Dipping/raising back of dress

adding lining or creating modesty panel

changing the look of the dress from its original designer appearance.

I FOUND A SEAMSTRESS WHO WORKS OUT OF HER HOME AND HER PRICE IS LESS.  CAN YOU MATCH IT?

At Anjolique, we take pride in offering our customers a full-service experience in a spacious, professional atmosphere.  When considering who or where you want to take your alterations, make sure to also ask these questions:

Do you carry insurance?  Anjolique does and this give our customers peace of mind.

Is your home/office climate controlled?  Anjolique's premises are climate controlled, protecting the integrity of our garments and yours

Do you have pets?  We have pets, but we love them at home, away from our brides' garments.

Is this facility licensed for business?

How much experience do you have working on this designer dresses?  Some seamstresses say they have worked on wedding gowns; but he/she may not have the level of experience you may want for the designer gown you have.  We have tailored over 3000 gowns from designers all over the world--not just once or twice, but many, many times over.

Does anyone in your house smoke?  Do you cook in your house? How can you ensure that these odors will not get into my dress? We have had quite a few dresses come to our store and you know exactly what was cooking recently when you opened the garment bag.

Is this your main job?  Many seamstresses work as a second job and your gown is not the priority in their life.  Their day job is.  your work is extra income.  For our seamstresses, your gown IS their day job.

Sometimes, when these important factors are considered, any modest cost savings becomes very little when considering your peace of mind.

WHAT ARE YOUR POLICIES REGARDING ALTERATIONS

We work on your gown until you are satisfied with your dress.  Keep in mind that dresses are not garments made of rigid construction, so we always ask that you approach alterations realistically.  We can only do what a dress will allow us to do.  No seamstress, for example can take $750 gown and make it fit and look the way a $7500 gown will fit and look.  Each dress has its own unique foundation, fabric, and construction and ultimately the garment is limited by these factors. However, we can tailor any gown to fit you within the perameters of that dress' unique makeup.  For these reasons multiple fittings are usually required for best fit.

I AM ON A FITNESS ROUTINE.  WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY ALTERATIONS?

You should be at your goal weight when you start your alterations.  you should neigher lose nor gain weight nor should you change your body frame in terms of inches.  Once alterations start, you should try to maintain the same weight and size throughout the process to minimize adjustments to your dress.

HOW LONG BEFORE THE WEDDING SHOULD I SCHEDULE ALTERATIONS?

Alterations should start about 8 weeks before the wedding or the portraits, whichwever is first.  If you have portraits done, you may have to have a courtesy adjustment before the wedding day.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING FOR  MY ALTERATIONS?

Definitely, please, bring the shoes you will be wearing with you to all fittings, including your first fitting.

Bring your foundation garments such as Spanx, or other shapewear.

Bring your strapless bra if you are wearing one.  Most dresses have the bra built in, so ask your consultant about whether or not you need a bra

Bring an open mind and positive attitude. -- Having an open mind allows the seamstress too work with you in achieving a great fit or in making fabulous custom changes.

Bring one person with you who has a positive frame of mind and who wants to be part of this exciting experience, like your mom, sister, or MOH

Bring a valid form of payment

WHAT SHOULD I NOT BRING FOR MY ALTERATIONS?

An entourage.  This is a private time for you and your seamstress.  Please leave the  crowd at home. This is very distracting for the seamstress and too many opinions can be frustrating to you.
